Winter is Coming: A Game of Thrones

this series has revived my fascination of medieval life (my past life must have been from that age). Game of Thrones is an original series from HBO, based on the novel, A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R.Martin . it focuses on the life of the Starks, the family governing WInterfell. there is much intrigue and surprises than you can imagine, and it makes Lord of the RIngs too goody-goody.

in the Game of Thrones, all characters are tested; the lines between black and white are not clearly drawn out. there are even more gray areas than the two, which makes it even more fascinating. here is reflected how kings are not so godly, and that sometimes people of power shun responsibility. true and raw human behavior is depicted as one would see in real life.

the series is well-cast, with Sean Bean (Boromir of Lord of the Rings fame) at its helm, costumes and settings very well-made, but the best part is George R.R. Martin is involved with the production so the series is much more related to the novel. dare to watch A Game of Thrones and experience what it was really like in a twisted medieval world. it airs in the Philippines on HBO every Sunday, at 10pm

new shirts

here are the shirts i have accomplished during the long weekend (yes! overdue!), modeled by my funny little boy. this is only the second time i've worked with textile paint, and i found it very hard to work with. looks like i have to research more on painting methods with this type of medium.

Dr. Seuss is Green in The Lorax

here's a little well-known, but quite relevant story to our time. and it's even more enjoyable to read on the iPod or iPad (with sound effects galore, i liked the humming fish much).

here, Dr. Seuss tackles commercialism and the effects on the environment. this is all too well-known to us adults (yet only a few care), and it's a simple but great way to show children that not everything we do is right. The Lorax himself is quite a character, and very much embodies nature. i hope he was real to put some sense into us humans.

my son and i immensely enjoyed reading the ebook, and i shall be getting a real book version of this so i can hopefully be able to read it to my grandchildren.

i'm excited over the long weekend here in the Philippines, even if there's a brewing storm. i'm already planning to do some projects, hopefully it won't be too humid to cause the paper to go damp.

also i'm excited( and giddy!) to watch the new Cars2 movie! we already know the story since he bade me to buy him the book (for his good grades), but nothing beats watching Mater in action! i like the idea that they injected some grown-up issues like the oil monopoly, i hope kids can be able to understand the issue though.

cloth pads

i have officially started using cloth pads during red flag days. they are as effective as ordinary sanitary napkins, plus they're more comfy! i especially like the Fuzzibunz brand because of the fleece top. my bottom feels like a baby! and the added fact that i'm using 2 pads less a day gives me a good feeling because i know that i am helping planet Earth.
