30Day Drawing Challenge: Day 2

Day 2 is draw an animal. As I was growing, I have always been fascinated by cetaceans. it started with orcas (killer whales), then dolphins (not the freshwater type, though). so this dolphin was drawn. now I'm thinking of doing orcas, with their beautiful B&W markings

and because I was so happy with my self portrait, I decided to do a fast portrait of my son. don't you just like his chubby cheeks?

Finished Poppet and a WIP

Poppet, watercolor painting by Bre
finally, i've finished working on Poppet. it's really hard to work with just b&w, thank goodness Poppet is a redhead! but i guess that's the magic of Le Cirque de Reves. and if it did exist, i want to be a reveur, an ultimate fangirl of the circus.

and now here's a sneak-peek at Tsukiko, Le Cirque de Reves' very own contortionist and a former "game" contender

Dark Knight Fever

The Dark Knight Rises nears its premier, and I'm dying to see it! Batman has been one of my favorite superheroes of all time (love his broodiness!), and Chris Nolan has made the storyline very interesting indeed. the cast of his latest installment is very intriguing also, especially since most of them came from his Inception movie.

i'm on a Dark Knight fever these past few days, and been drawing some of the villainesses from the series

Harley Quinn (sorry for the typo there), Mr. J's pet

of course who'd forget Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Batman's sexiest archnemesis

thrifted: A Kiss for Little Bear

while in Cebu, i was able to grab a vintage copy of Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak's A Kiss for Little Bear and a very good copy at that! just in time for the commemorating the death of the illustrator, and what an astounding illustrator he is! i love the way Sendak puts subtle color on his pen&ink drawings.

indeed this one shall be included in my treasure trove.

Sneak a Peek: La Vie En Rose

a glimpse of my work area
here's what's i've been up to lately. one of friends, Vins of Tawambuhay, piqued me to create stationery items. we were supposed to be a tandem, with her coming up with the words for cards/notebooks, but haven't yet brainstormed on our project. one thing stuck to my mind though, her mentioning of La Vie En Rose. the phrase i found out has many possibilities, and here are some.

i've yet to post the finished bookmarks here and on etsy, but i'd just like to share with you this WIP. thanks, Vins, for the inspiration!

A Drawing A Day2 and 3

Elven Lady; Day2

Grown Shishigami; Day3
due to technical difficulties i wasn't able to upload these last Wednesday, but here they are. with The Hobbit movie looming closer, i feel myself being drawn to draw elves once more. they are indeed a beautiful race. the bottom is an adolescent shishigami, you'll remember that i've painted a young shishigami before, and now he's grown.

A Drawing A Day

in order to keep my creative juices running, this year, i resolved to challenge myself to draw everyday. even small drawings (which i really like, especially at the office) will suffice. and here's the start:
