last weekend was not as hot as I though it would be. so I finally had the courage to try acrylic (not sure though if that has any connection with the temperature) on my pendants. it is so very different from watercolor that I had some time adjusting to its consistency and flow. here are the results:

the effects of the two pendants are very different. I diluted the paint with water for the Madonna and Child, while the unicorn has purer acrylic form.

I am so in love with the textures on my unicorn. too bad I won't be able to keep it.

30day Drawing Challenge

I am so behind Aileen's 30 Day Drawing Challenge. it's also been a month since my last post here. huhu! hopefully I'll be able to update my blog more through this challenge. so here's Day1: draw yourself

on another note, I have been tinkering with new materials lately. thank heavens for air-drying clay as I do not have a kiln or an oven to bake normal clay or Sculpey. 

it's my first time to work with this medium and i find it interesting. I'm still a bit chicken to paint it though (it's also my first time to use acrylic, any tips?)

La Mer de Reve Brooches

After much contemplation (not to mention temptation), I puchased my first and second set of washi tapes during the past weeks. The first one was from Hey Kessy, one of the leading online sellers of washi tapes. They have unique and vast variety of designs to choose from. Then I went to National Bookstore where I chanced upon ultra slim washi tapes at 6mm width! No doubt I had to buy them.

And here are the results of my growing addiction. The illustrations are hand-drawn and colored, then dabbed with washi here and there and a bit of Mod Podge. Et voila! Handmade brooches! These'll be in the shop soon so watch out!

rubber stamps



guilty of crafting!

 well i haven't been totally busy during my weekends/holidays, i was able to squeeze in some rubber (eraser) stamps during my breaks.

i got my stamp carving tools at the Deovir online store, thank God they have one and that they are reasonably priced (have to make it a point to visit their real shop soon). the erasers i got from stationery deptartments of different stores, and let me tell you not all erasers are alike. i like the harder ones because they are easier to work with, rather than the elastic ones. i only have one stamp pad, an old school one from National Bookstore. hopefully i can be able to get more brilliantly colored ones (any suggestions?) or try watercolor as ink.

at first i found carving to be taxing as the eraser i got was to flexible and didn't always turn out the way i want to. when i got the hang of it (and a change of eraser), i found it very therapeutic, it's as if time stops for me. now i'm addicted (when i have time), and have been hoarding erasers whenever i go to the stationery section of stores. now on to my next project!

Instagram has been a source of inspiration for me in many ways. From art, fashion to food and travel and super cute animals (let's not forget about that!), i keep on discovering more and more amazing things and people. I have also been posting most of my artworks there since i find it more convenient. Indeed, it has changed the way we share our lives and craft tp the world.

Finished Poppet and a WIP

finally, i've finished working on Poppet. it's really hard to work with just b&w, thank goodness Poppet is a redhead! but i guess that's the magic of Le Cirque de Reves. and if it did exist, i want to be a reveur, an ultimate fangirl of the circus.

Dark Knight Fever

The Dark Knight Rises nears its premier, and I'm dying to see it! Batman has been one of my favorite superheroes of all time (love his broodiness!), and Chris Nolan has made the storyline very interesting indeed. the cast of his latest installment is very intriguing also, especially since most of them came from his Inception movie.

i'm on a Dark Knight fever these past few days, and been drawing some of the villainesses from the series

i purchased a dipping pen set online and this weekend my friend, Vins, and I will be attending a calligraphy Crafternoon. i'm so excited to use my dipping pen! i am a complete novice at calligraphy and i was hoping to improve my handwriting also through it. i'll keep you posted on the outcome of our little adventure with this art come next week.

my current obsession

so sorry i haven't been posting much lately. i've been busy with my day job and the first few days of school. i am more active on another platform, though, which is Instagram. i found out that it's a fast and easy way for artists to post their latest (or past) artworks. i've been following more and more artists everyday as i discover them. i also started posting some of my illsutrations and artworks there.

but what i am most obsessed with are the cats and/or dogs of instagram, especially the ones from Japan! i cannot get enough of their cuteness!!!

here's a sketch of one of the items in my shop, from the parent-child series. bunnies are such adorable creatures, but I don't see myself enjoying them as pets (I find them boring). below is the fully rendered version of the sketch with some minor changes.

i wish i had a nursery to put this painting in. it would've been perfect!
